Description
Painted for my dear friend/client Sharon Fuller Adams, her book "Healing Hearts, Never Forgotten, Always Loved" will include the story that inspired this painting.
"Sunday night February 18,1968 was a rainy night in Vietnam, a young soldier stood guard alone with only his thoughts to keep him busy. He looked up on the hill next to him and saw the figure of a man, the dark and the rain made it hard to see who it was but as he kept looking he could not see the face well but could tell he had on a helmet and poncho. He didn’t feel afraid as he looked down from the top of the figure down his body and then to his legs but couldn’t make out his feet. As time stood still he looked intently trying to figure out who it might be, he looked away and when he looked back the person was gone. He thought how weird that was and when the morning came he went back to his unit and asked if anyone had come out to check on him. They all said no, no one did which made him wonder even more who it could be. A few days later Bruce DeYoung received a letter from his dad telling him his very best friend, Bruce Fuller had been killled in action in Vietnam. All of a sudden he felt a peace come over him, he bowed his head and prayed asking if that person on the hill was Bruce Fuller, a quiet voice came to him and said yes, he came to say goodbye and let you know he was ok.....
November 2019 Bruce DeYoung told me of this very special experience and as he told me I felt a tug on my heart to have this painting done by Jessica Tookey"
